Feeding America

With the same large-network model but a greater emphasis on direct service, in 2019, Forbes ranked Feeding America as the second largest privately-funded U.S. nonprofit, with $2.8 billion of private donations received. Feed America receives in-kind donations from growers, food and grocery manufacturers, retailers, shippers, packers, government agencies, and other organizations. Its network of 200 local food banks receives and stores the food, and its network of 60,000 food pantries and meal programs distributes the food directly to the community, distributing more than 3.6 billion meals last year. Feed America also supports programs that improve individuals’ food security, educate the public, and advocate for legislative protections.
