Alpha Phi Omega
In 1925, Alpha Phi Omega (APO), the largest community service fraternity in the U.S. was founded. The co-educational intercollegiate fraternity was inspired by Frank Reed Horton who served in World War I and dreamt of people coming together from different backgrounds to better the world. Today, APO has 375 college chapters and more than 500,000 student members who fulfill the principle of service on campus, in the greater community, and across the nation. Each APO chapter has different service hour requirements for its members and offers unique opportunities ranging from volunteering at local soup kitchens, job training programs, and after-school programs, to hosting on-campus poverty simulations to increase public awareness.
