Catholic Charities USA
In 1910, Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA; previously known as the National Conference of Catholic Charities or NCCC) was founded as an association of Catholic charitable ministries, with the express intent of helping the poor. In 2007, in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Catholic Charities launched the Campaign to Reduce Poverty in America with the goal of cutting the poverty rate in half by 2020. Today, Catholic Charities operates a network of 167 agencies that serve individuals in need including through food and nutrition and affordable housing. In 2018, Catholic Charities served 12.5 million people, including providing 9.8 million people with 44 million meals, and almost 990,000 people with housing services.
