Kairos Center
In 2013, Union Theological Seminary in New York, NY established the Kairos Center for Religions, Rights, and Social Justice to further the established Poverty Initiative. The Poverty Initiative, founded in 2004, researches and shapes public and theological debate, ministry models, and social action to address the root causes of poverty. The Initiative’s network includes congregations, community-based organizations, and individuals across 30 states and seven countries. The Kairos Center works with religious and community leaders to empower individuals living in poverty to lead a movement to end poverty, and serves as an anchor organization for the Poor People’s Campaign
