Establish an eviction prevention initiative

The average cost (to the state) of an eviction rises to more than $30,000, while the average amount owed per case is approximately $1,500.

Preventing evictions is not only cost-effective, it allows for family stability, with ripples into every aspect of a family's life.

To get started:

  1. Establish a fund for emergency support, developing relationships with landlords and other property owners in communities with high numbers of individuals living below the NPPS.

  2. Provide wraparound services, such as budgeting and financial planning.

  3. Create a network of support to include financial managers, legal professionals, and credit counseling agencies.
