Identify best practices to reduce health disparities

In addition to long-standing health disparities experienced by those in poverty, policies affecting people in poverty are often created without their participation.

Conduct participatory action research to identify best practices in messaging and health care delivery, and collaborate with health care and other partners to evaluate and scale-up programs.

To get started:

  1. Connect with neighborhood leaders, health care providers, local government, and nonprofits to identify critical areas for research and  to collaborate on project design, implementation, and analysis.

  2. Identify sources of funding, including government agencies and philanthropic organizations.

  3. Monitor programs for outcomes, identifying best practices that can drive future investments and strategies.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

The University of Chicago Health Lab partners with civic and community leaders to identify, evaluate, and help scale programs and policies that improve health outcomes, particularly for low-income and disadvantaged urban residents.

The Health Disparities Program at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research examines the unique health concerns of populations challenged by inequities in health and health care quality along racial, ethnic, age or socioeconomic lines.
