Participate in mental health first aid training

Due to limited financial resources and high levels of trauma and stress, mental health issues impact people experiencing poverty in intense and debilitating ways, often inhibiting educational or employment pursuits.

Obtain a certificate in mental health first aid and volunteer directly in under-served communities to offer support and crisis preparedness.

To get started:

  1. Complete a mental health first aid certification program.

  2. Connect with community leaders in the health care and faith sectors to help identify volunteer opportunities or greatest needs.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based learning course that can be completed online or in-person. You will learn valuable skills about how to recognize and react to signs of addiction and mental health crises.
