Serve as an anchor institution or partner in operating a market
Food insecurity is a major contributor to chronic diseases, and a lack of personal- and self-care items can be equally detrimental.
Partner with local and national organizations to offer a wide variety of important products, creating a market on-site or within communities with high levels of individuals living below the NPPS.
To get started:
Survey your patients to identify those experiencing food insecurity and/or who live in food deserts.
Engage community partners, including social service organizations, local food distributors, farmers markets, business leaders, and philanthropists to offer a broad selection of products.
Incorporate healthy food options, personal care items for people of all ages, and acceptance of food prescriptions.
