Advocate for public transportation options
Adequate transportation presents one of the greatest obstacles to securing and maintaining employment. Efficient public transportation benefits everyone who works in your company, from CEO to entry level employees.
Identifying public transportation issues on which to advocate creates a sense of shared community that has positive externalities for a corporate work environment.
To get started:
Speak with your employees about the impact of various methods of transportation. Work with them to identify community efforts that could improve transportation and safety. This may include better street lighting, improving public transportation timetables, or adding destinations.
Consider establishing a working group that includes employees at all levels of the company.
Develop a narrative that highlights the facts and supports change in local transportation.
Advocate with local and state representatives for increased public transportation options, hours, and routes.
