Fund extended day programs

Parents working to rise out of poverty often need flexibility in their child care in order to respond to work needs during before- and after-school times.

Provide funds for child care centers - especially in low-income communities - to open earlier and stay open later.

To get started:

  1. Work with child care providers to learn of their clients' needs relative to hours of operation.

  2. Help child care professionals enhance program offerings through professional development opportunities (e.g., researching programs that are effective in early mornings or later afternoons).

  3. Provide funding for food and other essential support, given the extended time that care will be provided.
