Help individuals to obtain driver’s licenses
A disproportionately high percentage of individuals living below the NPPS do not have a personal driver's license.
Create a program that helps people to obtain, re-obtain, or retain their driver's license.
To get started:
Work with residents to determine barriers to acquiring or retaining a driver’s license.
Identify members interested in committing to oversee the program for the long-term.
Map out the steps needed to obtain a driver's license in your community.
Develop a plan that includes your members helping individuals with the following:
Accessing and paying for Driver's Ed courses, including help with transportation to the programs
Practice driving and studying for the driver's exam.
Transportation to the DMV
Fees for permits and licenses
