Help individuals to obtain driver’s licenses

A disproportionately high percentage of individuals living below the NPPS do not have a personal driver's license.

Create a program that helps people to obtain, re-obtain, or retain their driver's license.

To get started:

  1. Work with residents to determine barriers to acquiring or retaining a driver’s license.

  2. Identify members interested in committing to oversee the program for the long-term.

  3. Map out the steps needed to obtain a driver's license in your community.

  4. Develop a plan that includes your members helping individuals with the following:

    • Accessing and paying for Driver's Ed courses, including help with transportation to the programs

    • Practice driving and studying for the driver's exam.

    • Transportation to the DMV

    • Fees for permits and licenses
