Improve access to clean water
In 2019, it was estimated that more than two million Americans lived without running water and basic indoor plumbing. Nearly 44 million Americans had to drive hours to obtain water that was safe to drink.
Invest in organizations that dedicate people, time, and resources to address inadequate water infrastructure and insufficient wastewater treatment management.
To get started:
Research locales where obtaining in-household running water has been an issue.
Partner with appropriate stakeholders, including educational institutions, for sustainability information, and nonprofits and philanthropic organizations to design, build, and fund the implementation and/or renovation of these systems.
Best Practices / Innovative Programs
Ferguson works with the nonprofit, DIGDEEP, that aims to close America’s water gap by providing hundreds of families with running water in their homes. Committed to solving the domestic water crisis, they are hoping to provide running water for 2.2 million Americans, especially in underprivileged areas, such as the Navajo Nation and Appalachia.
