Provide affordable avenues for obtaining care

The financial burden for medical care can be catastrophic, especially for individuals living below the NPPS.

Ensure your costs are transparent and research how you can effectively provide free or reduced-fee care to those who live below the NPPS.

To get started:

  1. Build partnerships with community organizations to develop a long-term plan for offering affordable care.

  2. Implement a sliding scale for services and payment plans for families that are uninsured.

  3. Ensure transparency when discussing costs with patients, and offer phone or telehealth appointments to reduce overhead costs for patients.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

The UMMA Community Clinic in Los Angeles envisions itself as part of a larger network of institutions addressing the health and well-being of the underserved and indigent, mindful of the cultural, spiritual, social and economic realities that impinge upon them, and the traditional barriers to accessing care.

LCH Health and Community Services offers specialized & primary care to Kennett Square, West Grove, Oxford, and the surrounding communities of southern Chester County in Pennsylvania.  LCH accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance. Insurance or no insurance, LCH will take care of all individuals  who come to them. They evaluate everyone to determine eligibility for discounted services, and their sliding scale fees are based on income and family size.
