Provide child care services within a housing program

Cost, transportation, and availability are among the reasons that child care often prohibit parents from maintaining employment.

Partner with housing agencies to establish or enhance child care offerings within the community.

To get started:

  1. Connect with public housing agencies to determine openness to hosting child care programs or services.

  2. Survey residents to identify their needs and wants.

  3. Determine capacity of your organization and/or recruit partners for program delivery.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

The Glen at St. Joseph is an example of child care dedicated to supporting at-risk families and women raising children on their own. It offers resources and support services to help them work toward earning a certificate or degree.
