Provide tech devices to students

Education is a strong predictor of earning potential and employment opportunities, with clear connection to ending generational poverty. However, in an increasingly digital world, lack of access to technology hinders student success.

Providing tech devices to students is a way to help overcome this barrier for those living below the NPPS.

To get started:

  1. Use the NPPS map to identify nearby technology deserts.

  2. Partner with a school in that area to determine their tech needs and capacity.

  3. Provide the school with tech devices for each student.

  4. Collaborate with the school to create a plan to support device upkeep and integration in curriculum.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

Spark developed the Devices for Students initiative to improve long-term access to tech devices so students can further their education. They receive hotspot and laptop donations from individuals and sponsors, and they supplement this supply by purchasing heavily discounted devices. Their pro bono volunteer team configures the devices. Volunteers also train students and educators to enable classroom success.
