Recruit in communities with high levels of individuals living below the NPPS

It is not uncommon to have a large number of job openings in close proximity to a high number of unemployed adults.

Build relationships with leaders and groups in low-income communities near you and share how individuals can learn of employment opportunities.

To get started:

  1. Gain an understanding of the neighborhoods and needs in your region.

  2. Reach out to leaders in those communities to create awareness of jobs and application processes.

  3. Develop processes by which unsuccessful applicants can gain knowledge of and exposure to training opportunities to improve their candidacy.

Best Practices / Innovative Programs

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) created an initiative in December 2020 that aims to increase access to employment through training, education, and dedicated support from UPMC staff. This blog post contains additional information on the program.
