Utilize your networks to offer internships or employment
Many internships require experience that may be difficult to gain for those whose academic training has not provided equal opportunities.
Educate your members on the need to make it easier for individuals living below the NPPS to obtain apprenticeships, paid internships, or entry-level jobs.
To get started:
Survey your membership to identify internships or jobs that will help individuals to gain experience.
Advertise these positions in community spaces, such as recreation centers and public libraries.
Encourage local businesses to offer compensation for these positions. If paying a wage is not feasible, encourage consideration of a stipend, reimbursement of transportation costs, or other benefits.
