Build partnerships to prevent gentrification
When neighborhoods undergo renewal, renovations, or improvement, residents who were there previously are often "priced out" and unable to return. This leaves people living below the NPPS living further from health and economic resources, new transportation options, and other improvements to the quality of life in a region.
Fund programs that analyze neighborhood change to prevent displacement of residents living below the NPPS.
To get started:
Partner with stakeholders such as local government, businesses, non-profits, and local community leaders to ensure urban renewal efforts are inclusive of current residents.
Provide leadership of development projects to ensure previous residents are brought back unconditionally, supporting wrap-around assistance efforts for those with rent and other issues.
