Ensure accountability in community safety investments
A lack of focus on outcomes (versus outputs or ideas) has led to inefficient spending and has hindered progress in addressing disproportionate rates of violence in low-income communities throughout the United States.
Amplifying the work of groups effectively working on the ground to prevent and reduce violence will both provide exemplars and increase the response to violence.
To get started:
Identify programs focused on violence in low-income communities.
Conduct third-party evaluation of the work, assessing intent and results.
Provide support to anti-violence groups where gaps in outcomes exist, helping organizations and programs produce their intended outcomes.
