Establish a mentorship program
Many students living below the NPPS start at a disadvantage and attend schools that may not have the resources to provide needed support.
Establish a mentorship program to provide support and connection for students, and to increase their exposure to academic opportunities.
To get started:
Research local school support systems to speak with staff and identify needs.
Connect with other mentorship programs to establish best practices and identify any relevant state and local regulations that pertain to working with children.
Encourage participation by your association members.
Develop services, in addition to mentorships, that include enrichment and after-school programs, affordable SAT and ACT preparatory courses, and donations of school supplies.
