Help individuals obtain driver’s licenses
The lack of a driver’s license inhibits independence and may prevent individuals from accessing employment opportunities, health care, and other essential aspects of life.
Find local programs that assist community members with accessing a driver's license to see if they are interested in having you share your story with program participants.
To get started:
Identify a nonprofit or government entity that works in this area and inquire about their volunteer needs. If you have trouble identifying locations that focus on this, calling 2-1-1 (a community information and referral service) may lead to information on local programs.
Advocate for more equitable processes, as license requirements may inadvertently and disproportionately hinder those below 50% AMI from obtaining a license.
