Increase awareness of government-funded child care benefits
Many employees living below the NPPS may not be aware of local, state, and federal programs and benefits and/or how to access them.
Create a communications strategy that informs employees of child care benefits and subsidy programs.
To get started:
Survey the community to assess where there are gaps in utilization of programs.
Create a guide that articulates eligibility requirements and the application process for Child and Dependent Care Credit, the Child Care and Development Fund, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
Best Practices / Innovative Programs
The IRS provides thorough details about the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
Benefits.gov describes the Child Care and Development Fund and eligibility requirements and helps employees learn about the program by state, territory, and tribe.
Child Care Aware of America has a resource explaining the Child Care and Development Block grant (CCDBG), which authorized the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF).
