Raise funds for transit safety
Inadequate lighting and security makes public safety use a dangerous activity for many residents living in low-income communities.
Sponsor lighting and public transportation stops. Ensure stops provide proper shelter, lighting, seating, clear signage, up-to-date route information and significant sidewalk space. Sponsor transit vehicles to provide funding for needed repairs and security.
To get started:
Ask community members their opinions relative to transportation safety.
Build partnerships with neighborhood leaders and other sectors.
Identify problems you can fix, providing volunteer opportunities for skilled congregants.
Provide funding for partners to complete projects.
