Support community members facing eviction

Individuals and families living below the NPPS are at an increased risk for eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness. In fact, in cities and towns across the country, there are thousands of eviction filings every single year, including the past year during the pandemic.

Research trends in eviction filings and evictions in your region and develop a comprehensive strategy to increase awareness and support for those at risk.

To get started:

  1. Bring together interested members to create a long-term strategy of engagement.

  2. Connect individuals living below the NPPS to housing-specific organizations or legal aid organizations to prevent eviction.

  3. Create a fund for individuals and families facing utility shut-offs or eviction.

  4. Provide shelter for individuals who are homeless during cold weather and excessive heat.

  5. Evaluate your program annually to ensure your efforts – and those of others in the community – are leading to reduced homelessness and evictions.
